Business Licensing

All businesses, including home-based businesses, require a Business Licence issued by the City. Business Licences are issued to applicants that are in compliance with City regulations, which vary by the type of business being conducted. There is also an expedited process for home-based business, which can usually be completed within a day.

Business Licence Renewal

November 20, 2022: The City of Kamloops 2023 business licence renewal invoices have been mailed. Payments are due by December 31, 2022. 

Payment Options:

  • Through a MyCity account
  • Online payment system at Kamloops.ca/PayOnline
  • By mail, or in person at the Development, Engineering, and Sustainability building,105 Seymour Street, Kamloops, BC, V2C 2C6.

Avoid a penalty! If we have not received your payment before January 15, 2023, a $25 late payment charge will be added to the balance owing on your account.

If you have not received your renewal notice or if there has been a change to your business, please contact the Business Licence office by email at blicensed@kamloops.ca or phone at 250-828-3481 prior to submitting the 2023 payment.

If your business has ceased operating and you no longer require a business licence, please let us know so we can remove the business from our system.

NEW for 2023: Go Paperless with E-Billing! 

We are excited to announce that e-billing for business licence invoices is coming in 2023! With e-billing, business owners can conveniently receive business licences and invoices directly in their inbox. 

How to Register for MyCity and E-Billing:
1. Visit Kamloops.ca/MyCity
2. Create a new profile or open an existing profile. 
3. If you are creating a new profile, verify it by entering the code you will receive by email. 
4. Log into MyCity and add your business licence accounts.
5. Subscribe for e-billing.
 

Inter-Community Business Licence

If you have a mobile business and conduct business in two or more of the partner communities, inquire about the Inter-Community Business Licence program's options. Partnering communities may include Kamloops, Tk'émlúps te Secwépemc, Merritt, Lytton, Logan Lake, Clinton, Barriere, and Chase.
