The social issues in our community are complex and affected by many factors. The City continues to work with and advocate to the provincial and federal government for their commitment and support in the areas that fall under their jurisdiction including social and affordable housing, primary care, and support services for mental health and substance use issues.
Building a safe and secure community involves not only the RCMP and the City’s Community Services Officers, but also collaboration and partnership with businesses, community groups, non-profit agencies, institutions, foundations, government agencies, and individuals. The City is committed to working with partners across all sectors and levels of government in a collective effort to realize the Official Community Plan vision of Kamloops as a sustainable, healthy, resilient, inclusive, and vibrant community.
