History

In August 1884, the Kamloops Fire Brigade was formed, marking the beginning of a legacy that has grown, evolved, and transformed into Kamloops Fire Rescue. Despite many changes, the department and its members’ commitment and dedication have remained unwavering.

Today, our firefighters respond to over 10,000 emergencies annually, leaving fire stations at all hours to assist those in need. Service to our community and the safety of residents and property continue to be the backbone of Kamloops Fire Rescue, which embodies the department’s core values of safety, service, public trust, and teamwork.

Kamloops Fire Rescue currently has five career fire stations staffed 24/7/365 and two paid on call stations where volunteers are paged to respond to an emergency.
