Culture & Heritage

Culture is an essential component of Kamloops’ shared identity and sustainability as a city. The cultural sector is home to diverse opportunities in economic development, tourism, placemaking, and community building.

Kamloops is committed to enhancing cultural presentation, supporting access by the public to all forms of the arts and heritage, encouraging the growth and development of arts organizations and companies, promoting the work of individual artists, supporting marketing and cultural tourism, and extending the role of arts and education in building a “learning community.”

The Kamloops Cultural Strategic Plan outlines five key strategies:

  1. Focus on Heritage: Celebration, Commemoration, and Preservation
  2. Cultural Presentation and Development
  3. Marketing, Cultural Tourism, and Economic Development
  4. Cultural Infrastructure
  5. Culture and Education: Building a Learning Community
