The City is excited to announce shared e-scooters and e-bikes are now available in Kamloops, giving residents and visitors a new, affordable option for short, everyday trips.
This highly anticipated expansion through Bird Canada will gradually introduce 255 e-scooters and 45 e-bikes to Kamloops streets, offering a clean, reliable, and cost-effective alternative mode of transportation that will reduce reliance on motor vehicles and provide an important link to transit and other active transportation facilities in the city.

"We are delighted to have been selected and trusted by the City of Kamloops. Bird Canada is thrilled to offer the community a sustainable, affordable, and convenient solution to explore the city,” said Patrick Graham, Bird Canada’s General Manager.
Initial device deployment will focus more heavily on high-demand areas, such as the downtown core and the Tranquille Market Corridor, with fleet distribution adjusted throughout the riding season based on trip patterns and demand.
“The service supports the City’s transportation and climate goals by reducing reliance on single-occupancy vehicles, easing congestion during peak periods, and offering a healthy lifestyle by encouraging everyday outdoor physical movement,” said Purvez Irani, the City’s Transportation Manager. “Shared micromobility also helps support the local economy by making it easier to travel between neighbourhoods and local businesses, often filling in the gap to get to a transit stop and reaching your final destination.”
E-scooter and e-bike riders must be 16 years or older. Riders may use roads with speed limits of 50 km/h or less, keeping as far right as possible. On roads with higher speed limits, a designated cycling lane must be used. Riding on sidewalks and highways, as well as riding with more than one person, is prohibited. Users must wear a helmet, obey all traffic laws, and park responsibly. The service is being offered in accordance with the Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Project Regulation within the Motor Vehicle Act.
To start your ride, download the Bird app to locate and unlock available e-scooters and e-bikes throughout Kamloops. When finished, park the device in one of the clearly defined Bird parking nest areas identified within the app. Designated parking mats will be gradually deployed in the coming weeks in high usage areas. Riders must end their trip within one of these geofenced parking stations to help keep sidewalks clear and ensure orderly parking throughout the community.
