A Social and Community Development Grant provided funds to the Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre to add additional volunteer hours to operate the crisis line and add new volunteers to the team.

We work together with our community partner agencies, Kamloops Fire Rescue, Interior Health, and the RCMP to take extra measures during extreme weather to provide services and supports for unhoused individuals.

In 2023, Kamloops Fire Rescue conducted 87 FireSmart assessments in the community and City staff treated 35 ha of land.

The City’s new book recycling program has been such a success since it launched in November, that two more locations have been added. There are now four locations around the city for residents to recycle their old paperbacks, hardcover books, and textbooks.
