The City of Kamloops is pleased to announce we have passed our latest BC Municipal Safety Association Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit with flying colors!

A Social and Community Development Grant provided funds to the Kamloops Food Policy Council to help continue the operation of its Gleaning Abundance Program, Butler Urban Farm, and The Stir facility in our community.

The Hopewell Clinic and Pregnancy Centre's Wholistic Wellness Initiative, held in 2023, provided peer mentoring and coaching that aimed at improving the health and wellness of women and their children up to five years of life.

BGC Kamloops recognized a need to support more youth during the day due to a lack of other youth-serving organizations in Kamloops that are open during school hours.

During a regular Council meeting, City Council approved a motion requesting analytics from the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction regarding individuals travelling to Kamloops to access services. The response indicates that over the past five years, there have been slightly more people with no fixed address and on income or disability assistance leaving Kamloops than moving to Kamloops.

A Social and Community Development Grant provided funds to the Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre to add additional volunteer hours to operate the crisis line and add new volunteers to the team.

Big Bear Child & Youth Advocacy Centre received a grant in 2023 that was used for the Family Advocate Program, providing the program an additional 334 hours.

Kamloops-Cariboo Regional Immigrants Society offered free yoga to residents in 2023 as a result of a $3500 grant.

In 2023, Kamloops Fire Rescue conducted 87 FireSmart assessments in the community and City staff treated 35 ha of land.
