Kamloops, BC—Youths from across the region are invited to come together for the upcoming Change Makers Youth Conference, a full-day event designed to build leadership skills, encourage cultural exchange, and support reconciliation. The conference will take place on Friday, October 24, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the Holiday Inn, 675 Tranquille Road.

The conference is co-hosted by the City of Kamloops and Tḱemlúps te Secwépemc, with funding provided through the federal government’s Building Safer Communities Fund—a program dedicated to supporting youth-focused projects that help prevent gun and gang violence.

Participants will take part in an engaging program that blends leadership activities with cultural learning. Hands-on sessions include traditional beading, kickboxing, Lego Leadership, and other interactive leadership games. The event is designed to give youth the opportunity to build confidence, strengthen leadership skills, and broaden cultural awareness while connecting with peers from across Kamloops and the region.

“This conference is about more than just learning skills. It’s about creating connections and empowering youths to become positive change makers in their communities,” said Amy Hilliard, the City’s Community Education and Prevention Coordinator. “We’re excited to offer a day of fun, culture, and growth for young people from all backgrounds.”

The Change Makers Youth Conference is open to all youths aged 12 and over, and attendance is free. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided. Registration is required at Kamloops.ca/ChangeMakersConference.
