City Staff from the Social, Housing, and Community Development Division hosted an Outreach Networking and Support Event for front-line outreach teams to build stronger connections, share practical tools, and explore new ways to support community members experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

The intention of these events is to create a welcoming space for staff across the housing, health, and social service sectors to come together, exchange experiences, and strengthen cross-agency relationships to enhance services in Kamloops. The event opened with an Outreach Resource Fair, offering a straightforward and effective way for teams to learn about available services and make meaningful connections. Participants expanded their knowledge of existing supports and became more familiar with the resources available in the community.

With 84 attendees representing 25 organizations, the strong turnout reflected the depth of local partnership and shared commitment to supporting the community. Facilitated table discussions enabled outreach staff to highlight emerging needs, identify service gaps, and share solutions already proving effective in their work. Many participants noted that these conversations and networking opportunities helped strengthen relationships between agencies, enabling quicker coordination and more connected service delivery.

The City extends its sincere appreciation to the outreach staff, service providers, volunteers, and community partners whose ongoing efforts support residents facing homelessness, housing instability, and complex challenges. The gathering showed how working together can make a difference. It highlighted what can be achieved when organizations and community groups share information, coordinate supports, and build trust across the sector.

City staff typically host these events quarterly, helping to maintain strong communication and ongoing collaboration across the sector. Looking ahead, partners intend to continue building on this momentum, with the next Outreach Networking and Support Event planned for May 2026.
