The City of Kamloops, in partnership with Tḱemlúps te Secwépemc, Thompson Rivers University, and Kamloops Pride, proudly hosted a vibrant Pride Open House on Friday, June 12, ahead of this year’s Pride Parade at Riverside Park on June 14.
More than 20 community organizations and four food trucks participated, creating an engaging space for residents to connect, celebrate, and learn about local supports and resources. The event opened with a prayer and remarks from Tḱemlúps elder Freda Jules, setting a welcoming tone for the day. Families gathered for a highlight performance by drag artists Miss Mousse and Autumn Horizon, who led an interactive story time featuring reading, dancing, and audience participation. Throughout the afternoon, the dance floor remained lively, with some attendees staying well into the evening to enjoy the music and atmosphere brought together by GK Sound.
The Pride Open House was designed to celebrate Pride, kick off the parade, and showcase the many organizations supporting inclusion and well-being in Kamloops.
The City extends its sincere thanks to the many volunteers, partners, and participants who helped bring the event to life. It was especially meaningful to see City staff, families, and community members come together in such a positive and welcoming environment.
