Over the past few years, our community has faced its share of challenges, and through each one, we’ve learned, adapted, and grown together. Just as importantly, we’ve heard your feedback. We know clear, timely communication matters, and we are committed to continually improving how we share information, especially during emergencies.
One tool that plays an important role in how we share urgent information is Voyent Alert!, the City’s official emergency notification system. We use it when there is a need to quickly share important, time-sensitive information that could impact your safety, property, or daily routines—things like evacuation alerts and orders and water service disruptions. It’s not used for every update but when it is, there’s a clear reason: we need to reach you quickly and directly.
Signing up is simple and anonymous, and it ensures you receive alerts in the way that works best for you: by text, phone call (land line or cell phone), email, or through the mobile app. You choose which locations to receive alerts—such as your home, workplace, children’s school, or family member’s home—so you stay informed about what matters most. If you haven’t already, I strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to register at Kamloops.ca/Voyent.
In emergencies, how we respond as neighbours matters just as much as how the City responds. We know we won’t reach everyone directly, and that’s where Kamloopsians make a difference. Share accurate information from trusted sources, check in on neighbours, and help ensure those around you are aware and supported. Time and again, this community shows its strength by coming together and looking out for one another.
We’re committed to learning from every experience and strengthening how we communicate with you. Thank you for your feedback, your patience, and for being part of the solution.
