This Saturday, June 6, is National Health and Fitness Day, and June is the BC Recreation and Parks Association Recreation and Parks Month. The City is encouraging residents to participate and mark both events by getting out, getting active, aiming to make physical movement a daily priority, and enjoying some recreation time in our local parks.
“There are many physical, social, and mental benefits of being active,” said Diane Campbell, the City’s Sport Development Coordinator. “Whatever your fitness level, you can incorporate movement into your routine, whether that’s through registered activities, walking in your neighbourhood, gardening, playing with the kids, or spending time hiking, biking, or playing in your favourite community park space.”
