UPDATE May 26: Kenna Cartwright Park has reopened to users. Crews may still be working in the area, so please allow them space to work.
UPDATE May 25 - While excellent progress has been made on the Kenna Cartwright fire, residents and trail users are reminded to stay away from the Home Depot trailhead to allow crews space to work. The park access from Home Depot is closed until further notice.
UPDATE 8:45 pm: Fire at Kenna Cartwright Park has been knocked down and contained. Crews will be on site until approximately 9:00 pm. KFR will have a crew on site overnight to monitor the fire, but will not be actioning the fire unless necessary due to darkness and steep terrain. Citizens will see smoke and some flame throughout the night and into the morning. KFR will return in the morning to continue extinguishing the fire. Citizens are reminded that even though things are looking green and the weather has been rainy, it is still dry and fires can start easily and move quickly. Be FireSmart.

May 24 - 5:10 pm: Kamloops Fire Rescue and BC Wildfire are on scene at a fire near Kenna Cartwright Park. The fire is currently contained however residents are asked to avoid Kenna Cartwright park and trails while crews are working.
