Get ready for the 2025 ParticipACTION Community Challenge. This national competition to find Canada’s most active community comes with a top prize of $100,000 for local physical activity initiatives. The challenge runs from June 1–30.
Moving more and sitting less is made easier when we do it together. There are tons of opportunities to stay active as our community gets back into the swing of things with the return of many amazing events and community recreation.
Sign up as an individual and take the pledge to be active for your community this June! Organizations are encouraged to register and track the programs and events delivered throughout June.

- Enter your name, email, and postal code to take the pledge of being active in our community for the month of June.
*If you have registered your email as an organization, please use a separate email when signing up as an individual taking the pledge.*
Individuals do not need to track physical activity. By registering, you are committing to being active in your community. Every move counts—from walking the dog to gardening to playing with the kids. Try It! Events
Residents of all ages are invited to attend free, low-barrier, inclusive Try It! events offered through various organizations in the community. The goal is to encourage individuals to try a new activity and discover what could be a new passion and gathering of new friends.

This is a FREE drop-in program for all children, youth, and families in the community looking to get active. Each Park Play Day provides a variety open play opportunities, games and activities. Registration is not required.
- All parks will have recreation staff onsite with games and equipment

Riverside Park l East EndDrop by and try People In Motion's adaptive mobility bikes, which allows your body to use different muscles to get you rolling. Bring your own helmet, or borrow one, and see what you think. You may find it harder than you'd expect.

This is a one-hour teaser class, taught by Unity 253, is the perfect opportunity to dip your toes into this mesmerizing aerial discipline. Designed specifically for beginners, this session provides a comprehensive overview of what a full Lyra class involves. Experience a structured approach including warm-up, strengthening, and stretching exercises, and get hands-on with basic stances and introductory moves.

This June 7, 15, and 28 we are offering FREE skating is to help our community compete for the title of Canada’s Most Active Community and win $100,000 to support local sport and physical activity initiatives! Registration recommended. Special note: Please note that rentals are not available the facility.This program is recreational ice skating for all ages. Children ages seven and under must be accompanied on the ice by an adult wearing skates. Children ages 12 and under are required to wear a helmet; helmets are strongly recommended for youth and adults. No sticks or pucks are permitted. This program is monitored by Skate Patrol.

Try It Tumbling for ages 3 to 12. Athletes will do a quick warm up, use our tumbling track (long trampoline) and do tumbling stations including rolls, cartwheels and handstands. Athletes will be split by age if applicable and each session will be 30 minutes. No registration required.

West Highland Park l Soccer Field 1Come try the sport of biathlon at the Kamloops Biathlon Club’s electronic biathlon try-it days! Electronic biathlon combines a variety of physical activities such as skiing, running, biking and strength training with target shooting. For the target shooting component, our electronic biathlon program uses biathlon rifles with infrared technology that use a beam of light instead of a projectile.
Drop by anytime during our try-it day activities to take a shot at hitting the biathlon targets, and combine the target shooting with running or an agility course. Come for a few minutes to take some shots, or stay for an hour to get some instruction and a fun workout! Participants should bring running shoes and activewear to the activity which will involve lying down and getting up, with running and agility exercises optional.

Unity 253 l 253 Victoria StreetThis adult oriented class is for brand new students with little or no pole experience. Learn basic pole grips, stance, and a few introductory moves. Become familiar with the structure of the pole classes, including a warm-up, strengthening moves, and a stretch. This class is the minimum prerequisite to allow you to attend drop-in pole classes.

John Tod Centre l 150 Wood StreetRain or shine, PacificSport Interior BC, will be at this annual exciting, free, fun family event. Geared toward children 0-5 years of age, the picnic promotes health and well-being, early literacy, and the importance of play through arts/crafts, games, music, dance, reading, and physical activity. The Teddy Bear Mother Goose Picnic is part of the Kamloops Y Healthy Kids week.

Pioneer Park Paddling Compound/Boat LaunchCome join Thompson Okanagan Rivers Interior Paddling Society for a Pioneer Park sunset paddle in a voyageur canoe. This free session is for ages 12+. Children 8 to 12 may attend accompanied 1:1 by an adult. Personal float devices will be available but if small kids have their own that fit well they should bring their own. Everyone must fill out a waiver to participate. The event is approximately 1.25 hours on the water. Allow additional time for waivers, paddle talk, loading, launching, etc. This event is limited to a max of 25 people.

West Highlands Park, Community CentreIn this fun and interactive line dancing class beginners will learn about beat, music timing, rhythm, basic dance steps, and will also learn simple choreographed repeating sequenced dance routines. No previous dance experience or partner required. Join in the fun for all ages, and dance to all types of music
