Lesson Programs

Jump in and Swim!

We strive to deliver the best quality swim lessons possible. As of January 1, 2023, the City of Kamloops will have transitioned from Red Cross to the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life ® program.

The Swim for Life ® program is like the Red Cross Swim program and offers equivalent levels. There are new animal mascots, names and colours but you will find the same progression-based swim instruction at the core. Parents and participants should anticipate minimal disruption to their current pathway of swim level achievements.

Swim lessons are available year-round at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre and Westsyde Pool and Fitness Centre and offered in the summer at the Brock Outdoor Pool.

View our transition guide to find the correct program to register for.

Swim Lesson Evaluations

Not sure what level to register your child in? Swim evaluations are available during any of our leisure or public swim times.

To request an evaluation, visit the front desk and a lifeguard/swim instructor will help you find the appropriate level. Remember to bring your swimming attire because this will be an in-water assessment. Children under the age of 7 are required to have an adult in the water with them for the evaluation.
