2025 Property Tax Deadline Approaching

Release Date

Kamloops, BC—Kamloops property owners are reminded that 2025 property taxes are due by Wednesday, July 2. A provincially mandated 10% penalty will be applied to all unpaid balances beginning Thursday, July 3. To assist with in-person payments, City Hall will offer extended hours starting today and will be open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm until the deadline. In-person payments are also accepted at the Tournament Capital Centre, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Both City Hall and the Tournament Capital Centre will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, for the Canada Day statutory holiday.

There are several other ways to pay property taxes, including online via Visa or Mastercard, through online banking, by mail, or using one of four secure City dropboxes. A full list of payment methods and hours is available at Kamloops.ca/PropertyTax. Online credit card payments can be made at Kamloops.ca/Payment. Please note that a non-refundable 1.75% convenience fee applies to all credit card transactions.

Residents are reminded that Home Owner Grant applications are due July 2 and must be submitted directly through the provincial government every year. Grants can be applied for online at Gov.BC.ca/HomeOwnerGrant or by calling 1-888-355-2700. Claiming a grant without making a property tax payment can still help reduce the total balance owing.

For residents facing financial challenges, partial payments made before the deadline will help reduce the penalty. Additional support may be available through the BC Property Tax Deferment Program, which allows qualifying homeowners to defer part or all of their annual property taxes.

Residents can also plan ahead by signing up for e-billing for 2026 taxes at Kamloops.ca/MyCity or by enrolling in the Tax Installment Plan Service (TIPS) to spread their 2026 tax payments into monthly pre-authorized withdrawals. Application forms and program details are available at Kamloops.ca/TIPS.
