Kamloops cyclists embraced active transportation, healthy living, and community connection during Spring GoByBike Week, held May 30 to June 5, 2026.

This year’s event saw strong participation across the city, with 353 riders logging trips throughout the week—an increase of 38% from 2025. Of those participants, 93 were new riders experiencing GoByBike Week for the first time. Riders joined 58 teams representing 28 local organizations, demonstrating a growing commitment to cycling in Kamloops.

Together, participants pedalled an impressive 13,114 km, helping prevent an estimated 2,343 kg of greenhouse gas emissions from entering the atmosphere.

GoByBike Week is a province-wide initiative supported by GoByBike BC that encourages people across British Columbia to choose cycling for transportation, recreation, and fitness while earning rewards and prizes along the way. It’s a fun and accessible way for people to try active transportation, whether they’re commuting to work, running errands, or simply enjoying a ride around the community.

Locally, the City partnered with Tourism Kamloops, the Kamloops Cycling Coalition, the Kamloops Regional Farmers’ Market Society, and Adventuring into Life to promote the event and offer participants the chance to win various exciting prizes, made possible by a $3,000 grant from GoByBike BC and the Government of British Columbia. To support longer commutes and encourage multimodal transportation, the City also provided free transit rides for cyclists throughout the week.

The week began with a kickoff event at the Kamloops Farmers’ Market on May 30, where participants enjoyed free refreshments, cycling swag, and opportunities to connect with fellow riders. Throughout the week, cyclists were invited to stop by the Celebration Station and the Kamloops Bike Valet at the Sandman Centre Plaza.

A wrap-up celebration at Red Beard Café featured appetizers, bike-themed trivia, and prize giveaways that recognized participants for their efforts.

The City extends its thanks to the local sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this year’s GoByBike Week a success.
