The City of Kamloops is proud to share that the incentive payment earned through the WorkSafeBC Certificate of Recognition (COR) program has exceeded expectations. Following last year’s outstanding audit results, the City has received an even higher incentive payment in 2025, over $299,000.
This enhanced incentive is a result of the City’s strong safety performance, as verified through the BC Municipal Safety Association’s comprehensive COR audit process. With a score of 84% in 2024, the City not only passed the rigorous safety audit but did so with distinction, demonstrating leadership in workplace health and safety practices.
“This payment reflects the strength of our safety culture and the continued efforts of staff across the organization,” said Jennifer Howatt, the City’s Director of Human Resources and Safety. “Our focus has always been on ensuring every employee goes home safe at the end of each day. Recognition like this reinforces that we’re on the right track—and allows us to reinvest in the community we serve.”
The COR audit process included on-site interviews, documentation review, and observations. The City’s exemplary performance, particularly in program administration, senior management commitment, and the work of the Joint Health and Safety Committees, was highly commended.
The additional funds from WorkSafeBC will support City programs and services, helping to deliver even greater value to the community—while reinforcing the City’s commitment to a safe and supportive workplace.
The City thanks its staff for their continued dedication to upholding the highest standards of workplace safety, and looks forward to building on this success in the years ahead.
