
Based on annual transit customer satisfaction data, the City is seeing encouraging progress for transit in Kamloops, with more residents using the service and noticing improvements.
Overall satisfaction has increased to 3.38 out of 5, up from 3.27 last year, signalling that service enhancements are being noticed. Notably, half of all riders now rate their experience positively (4 or 5 out of 5), a 5% increase year-over-year.
Ridership is also on the rise. 59% of residents used transit in the past year, up from 51%. More people are choosing transit as part of their daily routine, whether it’s getting to work, running errands, or heading out to shop.
A snapshot of further wins:
- Riders continue to rate bus drivers highly for their courtesy, and there’s solid feedback on cleanliness, fare options, and overall value.
- Affordability and convenience remain the top reasons people take transit, reinforcing its importance in the community.
- The free transit program for children 12 and under is also making a difference for local families. More than half of caregivers reported using it, and 68% say it’s important to the community, a strong sign the program is hitting the mark.
Just as important, perceptions are improving. More riders feel that service has gotten better compared to last year, suggesting that recent changes are being noticed and appreciated.
Overall, the transit picture in Kamloops is positive: more people are riding, satisfaction is improving, and the basics are working well. It’s a good foundation to keep building on as the City continues to enhance transit service for the community.
