The City of Kamloops hosted an appreciation dinner on March 7, 2024, to thank the many individuals who provide and share communication through their neighbourhood association. There are 17 neighbourhood associations operating throughout the city. The event, which saw over 80 attendees including neighbourhood association representatives, City Council, and City staff, was a gesture of gratitude and an opportunity to share information and strengthen relationships.
During the dinner, neighbourhood association representatives were presented with information on several programs and initiatives ongoing within our community. Key presentations included an overview of the Build Kamloops program, information on FireSmart practices and emergency preparedness, a brief on crime prevention initiatives, and a preview of upcoming community engagement projects set to take place in 2024 and into 2025. Neighbourhood association representatives also had an opportunity to engage in conversation with City Council and staff in attendance.
"This dinner was a small token of our appreciation for the incredible neighbourhood association volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to make Kamloops a vibrant and cohesive community," said Ben Chobater, Community Development Coordinator at the City of Kamloops. "It was also a vital opportunity to share important information and resources that can help empower our neighbourhood associations to continue their fantastic work."
The City is committed to maintaining open lines of communication with all neighbourhood associations and their members, recognizing their crucial role in community education and engagement.
