Leadership Update

Release Date

Hi everyone,

Over the past few years, the pace and complexity of information reaching our community has increased dramatically. Residents are asking more questions, seeing more commentary online, and encountering information that isn’t always accurate or complete—particularly when it comes to how local government works.

As City staff, we’re often the first point of contact for those questions. That’s why I want to share a new public‑facing resource we’ve launched: Let’s Learn.

Let’s Learn is a plain‑language webpage designed to provide clear, accurate, and accessible information on topics that regularly come up in our work and in community conversations. It breaks down complex or commonly misunderstood issues—such as how a municipality operates, Council roles and authority, how decisions are made, and safety and security topics—into easy‑to‑understand explanations.

This site is part of a broader effort to counter misinformation with facts, improve transparency, and make City information easier to access and understand. It’s not about persuading—it’s about empowering residents with reliable information and supporting respectful, informed dialogue.

I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Let’s Learn page and use it as a reference when questions arise in your work. You can also confidently direct residents to it as a trusted source of information.

You’ll also start seeing regular Leadership Updates like this one shared both internally and publicly. These updates are intended to provide more context, highlight helpful resources, and reinforce a consistent message—that we’re listening, we value clarity, and we’re committed to open communication.

Thank you for the role each of you plays in supporting our community and helping ensure the information we share is accurate, accessible, and aligned.
