What to Expect on the Route Tour

    • This is not a mock evacuation; this is a personal preparedness opportunity. This event is an escorted self-drive led by a pilot vehicle providing an opportunity to drive two of the emergency evacuation routes so you can see where the route begins and ends and experience the different terrain and the road navigation in case you ever need to be on it.
    • Vehicles will be led down the route by a pilot vehicle to limit speed and ensure driver safety. This would mimic the same process in the event of an emergency.
    • Each registered time slot will allow a maximum of 10 vehicles—as there are limited time slots, residents are encouraged to carpool with neighbours to allow as many residents to experience the route as possible.
    • Tours will vary between 5 to 15 minutes to complete, depending on the tour choice.
    • Residents who wish to do both route tours must register for both tours individually.
    • For the pre-registered tours, vehicles are limited to cars, SUVs, and trucks. No motorbikes, dirt bikes, recreational vehicles, etc.
    • Please arrive at the site a few minutes prior to your registered time. While waiting, please keep roadways clear and refrain from vehicle idling, if possible.
    • During the route, and in the event of a real fire, City and emergency response staff will be stationed at various points along the emergency access routes.
    • Residents that have not registered in advance will not be able to participate in the tour.
