Kamloops, BC—Kamloops Fire Rescue is once again looking for young leaders to step into the role of Honorary Junior Fire Chiefs. Beginning October 16, 2025, two students—one from Kamloops and one from Tḱemlúps te Secwépemc—will be selected at random from kindergarten to grade 4 applicants to serve a one-year term.

They may also be asked to take part in public celebrations and events.

“Programs like this help us build a culture of fire safety from a young age,” said Josh Cowen, Kamloops Fire Rescue’s Life Safety Educator. “When children understand the importance of prevention and share that knowledge with their classmates and families, the whole community benefits. This program is about inspiring future leaders while teaching lifesaving lessons in a fun and memorable way.”
