City Seeks Participants for the Arts and Culture Engagement Group

The City of Kamloops Community and Culture Department is seeking applications from Kamloops residents interested in serving on the Arts and Culture Engagement Group on a voluntary basis. 

There are two positions available to serve as a community representative for a minimum two-year term. Members of the public with expertise in and a passion for arts and culture are encouraged to apply.

The Arts and Culture Engagement Group meets quarterly to assist and support the Cultural Services and Events Division with matters related to arts and culture in the community. The engagement group, which consists of seven representatives from the public, makes recommendations and provides input on a wide range of arts and culture planning and community well-being initiatives.

Among other things, the Arts and Culture Engagement Group assists and supports the Livability and Sustainability Select Committee with: 

  • assisting with the evaluation of and providing input on applications for the BC Festival of the Arts Legacy Grants and the Community Art Grant
  • participating in the evaluation of public art recognition
  • providing input on mural applications
  • assisting with the advancement of the You Are Here Kamloops Cultural Strategic Plan 2024–2034
  • providing coordination and support for the Select Committee’s activities
  • providing information and professional advice for the Select Committee’s consideration
  • gathering public input for matters coming within the Select Committee’s mandate and reporting that information to the Select Committee
  • formulating art policies for the Select Committee’s review
  • promoting public awareness and engagement in all matters of arts and culture

The Arts and Culture Engagement Group will select new members at its April 2026 meeting. New members will be informed in May 2026 and will be expected to attend the June engagement group meeting. The City thanks all applicants; however, only successful applicants will be contacted.
