The annual Beem Credit Union Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week will take place January 24–31, 2026, in support of Family Literacy Day® on January 27. 

The City of Kamloops, in partnership with community partners, encourages families to find a healthy balance between sedentary screen time and active family time, connect more with each other, and spend at least 15 minutes a day doing an activity together that builds literacy skills.

As part of the Beem Credit Union Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week, the City of Kamloops is hosting four events:

• a free public swim at Westsyde Pool (859 Bebek Road) on January 24, 1:00–4:00 pm (no registration required)
• a free public skate at Valleyview Arena (535 Highland Road) on January 28, 5:45–6:45 pm or 7:00–8:00 pm (registration required - click your selected skating time above for the registration link)
• a free family sport night on January 29 at Beattie Elementary School (492 McGill Road), 5:15–6:45 pm (registration required)
• Unplug and Play with Rocks! on Saturday, January 31, 10:30 am–12:00 pm, at the Kamloops Museum and Archives, 207 Seymour Street (by donation)
