A new year-round household hazardous waste drop-off facility welcomed dozens of customers at its grand opening on Saturday, June 15. The facility opened its doors earlier in the spring at 480 Okanagan Way, in the Mount Paul Industrial Park and offers free, year-round household hazardous waste drop-off service to residents of Kamloops and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD). The facility is open five days a week, Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (closed Sundays and Mondays).
At the grand opening, customers were treated to coffee and invited to chat with City and TNRD staff about the importance of properly disposing of household hazardous waste. It is vital that hazardous waste stay out of solid waste carts because hazardous items can seriously harm workers and damage garbage and recycling facilities.
