The recent four-day martial arts camp held at the Kamloops Yacht Club was a resounding success, drawing enthusiastic participation from kids eager to learn and engage in a variety of activities. The camp was put on by Yo Bro | Yo Girl through the City of Kamloops’ Building Safer Communities Fund and provided an enriching experience that combined the fundamentals of martial arts with valuable life skills and plenty of fun.
During the camp, participants were introduced to essential techniques, including safe falling practices and effective self-defence strategies. These skills are crucial for martial arts and serve as valuable tools for personal safety and confidence. Expert instructors guided the kids through a series of drills designed to enhance their coordination, balance, and strength, all while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
In addition to the technical training, the camp featured a series of interactive games that kept the young athletes engaged and excited. These activities were designed to foster teamwork, build friendships, and promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere. The camaraderie developed among the participants was a highlight of the camp, with many kids forming lasting connections and memories.
