Kamloops Fire Rescue Clean Up at Regional FireFit Competition

The Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) FireFit team competed at the regional championship in Whitehorse on May long weekend and did Kamloops proud!

The FireFit Championship is a competition based on firefighting tasks commonly performed in emergency situations. Kamloops team member Graham Mackenzie took the top spot in the Individual Competition and, along with team members Mark Brise and Shawn Davidson, also took the title in two team events: the Team Competition and the Team Relay.

The spirit of the FireFit event is to showcase the demands of firefighting. Competitors wear full turnout gear, including boots, helmet, gloves, pants, jackets, and high-pressure breathing apparatus, and compete in firefighting tasks commonly performed in emergency situations: stair climb with high-rise pack, hose hoist, descending the tower, forcible entry, 140-foot run, hose advance, and victim rescue.

Way to go team!
