Kamloops City Council recently proclaimed the month of April 2019 as Safe Digging Awareness Month, and Mayor Ken Christian was on hand Friday, April 5, 2019, to accept an engraved shovel from FortisBC to recognize the City’s commitment.
“We fully support Fortis safe digging protocols and value the importance of understanding all underground utility locations before beginning work,” said Mayor Christian. “The City of Kamloops considers safety a top priority and has an excellent record in regard to safe digging. We are happy to be recognizing best practices during this campaign."
As spring and summer are often when many residents and companies start projects that involve digging, FortisBC reminds all British Columbians about the importance of working safely around natural gas infrastructure. FortisBC acknowledges that the community of Kamloops is setting a great example for the rest of the province and is leading the way in the reduction of gas line damage.
