The City of Kamloops hosted a Civic Operations Open House on May 28, 2022, in celebration of National Public Works Week. Usually held biannually, the open house was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, so staff were excited to bring this event back to the public in 2022.

The Open House is an opportunity for Civic Operations staff to show off all they do in Making Kamloops Shine, from demonstrating equipment and machinery, to tours of the City greenhouse. Over 370 people came out to enjoy the free festivities that included face-painting, birdhouse-building and hockey target practice with a backhoe! The Valleyview Lions Club provided a free BBQ lunch for all, and attendees had the opportunity to win door prizes.
