A simple call regarding a loitering pup resulted in a tearful reunion this week.
The City's Community Services Division received a call from a resident that a dog had been hanging around their neighbourhood for a few days and appeared to be in need of care and food.
A Community Services Officer responded and found a small dog hiding under a boat. After retrieving the scared dog, the officer returned to the Community Services office to determine next steps. The dog was not wearing a collar and could not be identified through licensing; however, a staff member recognized the animal from a recent Facebook post and reached out to the resident who'd made the post.
The resident explained that their dog had disappeared approximately two weeks earlier and they believed the dog had drowned after being spotted falling through the river ice. The resident attended the Community Services office immediately to find their beloved pet was very much alive and very excited to see them.
The City is pleased to see such a happy ending to this story and reminds residents to ensure their dogs are wearing their licence tags when outdoors to aid in quick identification in the event they go missing. For more information, visit Kamloops.ca/Dogs.
