The Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival will be taking place alongside Kamloops Daybreak Rotary Ribfest again this year. Teams from across the country are coming to Kamloops to compete on the South Thompson River off the shores of Riverside Park beach. Dragon boating is a modern sport with ancient traditions that is both competitive and fun! Boat crews consist of 20 paddlers, a steersperson and a drummer.
At 10:30 am, the Kamloops Spirit Warriors Dragon Boat Club hosts a heartfelt Carnation Ceremony to honour those currently fighting breast cancer and remember those we’ve lost. Later in the day, witness the intensity as fearless clubs enter the 'Guts and Glory' challenge.
There is no admission and all are welcome to come down and learn more about dragonboat and support the teams as they paddle the 500 metre race course on our river.
