The Kamloops Museum and Archives, the Secwe̓pemc Museum and Heritage Park, and the Royal BC Museum are hosting a lively discussion and workshop that reimagines the museum and its role in and among the community.
This discussion and workshop held at the Kamloops Museum and Archives will be fun, playful, and surprising, with opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations, music, and more. Everyone is welcome to participate in the meaningful conversations between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Light refreshments will be available. Registration is not required.
The event will begin with opening prayer from the Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc Language and Culture Department followed by opening remarks from the Secwe̓pemc Museum and Heritage Park, the Royal BC Museum, and the Kamloops Museum and Archives.
There will be four 15-minute breakout sessions that begin at 10:15 am which explore the themes of Indigenous Reconciliation and the United Nations Declarations on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act implementation; format and location of museum experiences; diversity and representation; and inclusion and accessibility.
Language translation, storytelling, and drumming from the Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc Language and Culture Department will begin at 11:30 am.
