The City’s new book recycling program has been such a success since it launched in November, that two more locations have been added. There are now four locations around the city for residents to recycle their old paperbacks, hardcover books, and textbooks.
In addition to the original book recycling locations in the Tournament Capital Centre lobby and the North Shore Library, the bright yellow book recycling carts can now also be found at the Northills Shopping Centre (near the food court) and in the lobby of the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre.
NOTE: Since this story was first published, the book recycling location at Northills Shopping Centre has closed, and a new location was added at BIG Little Science Centre.
Books collected through the program are recycled using special equipment to remove book covers and spines before recycling the paper. Books that are in good condition and not too outdated are donated to a second-hand or used bookstore.
