The wildfire situation affecting many communities across British Columbia has been challenging, emotional, and uncertain for thousands of people. In times like these, we are reminded not only of the difficulties our neighbours face, but also of the strength and compassion that emerge when communities come together to support one another.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our Emergency Support Services volunteers from Kamloops who have stepped forward to assist neighbouring communities impacted by wildfires. Kamloops is a dedicated host community, and these individuals have generously given their time, expertise, and energy to help evacuees navigate an incredibly difficult period. Their commitment to serving others reflects the very best of our community.

I also want to recognize the residents, businesses, organizations, and community groups who have rallied to support those affected. Whether through donations, community volunteering, fundraising efforts, or supporting agencies caring for displaced pets and livestock, your generosity has made a meaningful difference. These acts of kindness provide comfort, stability, and hope to people facing uncertainty and disruption in their lives.

Wildfires can be frightening and overwhelming, and the challenges they create are often felt long after the immediate danger has passed. Yet even in the midst of these difficult circumstances, we continue to see examples of resilience, compassion, and community spirit. When we come together to support those in need, we help shine a light during some of the darkest moments people may experience.
