"It’s so great seeing so many people getting out to vote early," said Alisha Beday, the City’s Chief Election Officer. "We’d like to remind voters that there may be lineups at some of the polls on Saturday and to please be patient and kind to the election workers. They will be working hard to get people their ballots as quickly as possible."

Voter registration for the City’s general local election is done on site at the polling location.

"Electors won’t receive a voter card for the general local election," said Beday. "If you see a card arrive in the mail, it’s for the separate provincial election on October 24."

Voters are reminded to bring two pieces of identification to vote. At least one piece of identification must show the voter’s signature, and at least one piece must show the voter’s address. The combined BC driver's licence and BC Services card will be considered as ONE piece of identification.

Following the close of voting at 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, live preliminary (unofficial) results will be available on Kamloops.ca starting at approximately 8:30 pm. The results will continue to be updated throughout the evening as polling locations report to City Hall. Official election results will be declared and released on or before 4:00 pm on October 21, 2026.
