Child Care Action Plan

Category: Community & Neighbourhood Plans
Topic: Full Plan

The action plan establishes a practical, three-year roadmap for the City of Kamloops focused on actions within municipal influence.

Although responsibility for funding, regulating, and operating child care primarily rests with senior levels of government, municipalities play an important role in creating the conditions that support child care development. Through land use planning, zoning, development processes, partnerships, and advocacy, the City of Kamloops can help reduce local barriers, improve coordination, and support opportunities to increase access to licensed child care. This action plan builds on the City’s 2019 Community Child Care Planning Program and reflects extensive engagement with families, child care providers, educators, licensing representatives, and community partners.

This plan replaces the 2019 Community Child Care Planning Program document.
