Release Date

The City of Kamloops is inviting interested non-profit organizations and societies to submit applications for the 2027 Social and Community Development Grants. The application period opens on Monday, October 5, 2026, and closes at 4:00 pm on Friday, November 5, 2026.

The Social and Community Development Grant supports programs and projects that foster belonging and strengthen overall social and community well-being in Kamloops. Applicants may apply for funding up to $30,000.

Projects will be evaluated and awarded based on the quality of the application and benefit to the community. Priority is given to initiatives that:

  • meet immediate and basic needs while reducing barriers that contribute to poverty
  • promote social inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility
  • fill identified gaps in social services
  • align with at least one priority in the current Council Strategic Plan related to social services

The City will be hosting an online information session to explain the grant process and guidelines on Friday, October 9, from 10:00–11:00 am, and interested applicants are encouraged to attend. Registration for the information session is available at Kamloops.ca/Grants.

The Social and Community Development Grant application process is entirely electronic. To access the required 2027 Social and Community Development Grant application materials, visit the City’s Grants and Funding page at Kamloops.ca/Grants.

After a thorough evaluation process, funding recommendations are made by a grant evaluation committee which consists of members of the Social Planning Engagement Group and community partner agencies. Following this, City staff, will notify all applicants by early January whether they have been approved or denied. Final determination of awards will be made public in January 2027.
