With the 2026 general local election only a few months away, the City of Kamloops is encouraging residents to love their city by engaging with their community, learning about local government, and informing their vote this fall.

The Love Your City campaign encourages residents to take pride in where they live and aims to help both voters and potential City Council candidates learn about local government’s role in creating a vibrant community and City Council’s responsibilities and limits. This valuable information will allow candidates to run an accurate and informed campaign and voters to cast a ballot that accurately reflects their priorities—for themselves, their families, and their communities.

“Our goal is to empower voters to feel confident about their vote this fall,” said Kristen Rodrigue, the City’s Communications and Strategic Partnerships Director. “Every person’s ballot carries the same weight. Election results are the most reflective of the community’s wants and values when voter turnout is high and electors are engaged in the process and with their community.”

To help residents learn more about local government and municipal elections, the City has created a fun and educational quiz. Residents who complete the quiz will be entered into a monthly draw between now and election day.

Residents can also visit the Love Your City information booth at various community events through the summer and fall. Look for the City of Kamloops tent, starting at the Kamloops Farmers’ Market on Saturday, June 27.

The Love Your City web page will be updated with information and event details to help residents and prospective candidates prepare for election day on October 17, 2026.
