Located at 393 Seymour Street in the heart of downtown Kamloops, the Kamloops Centre for the Arts (KCA) has been identified as the first priority for the visionary Build Kamloops program and will be an iconic structure that serves as a catalyst to grow, inspire, and unify our community.

After 18 months of detailed planning and validation, the project team—comprising of architects, engineers, builders, and City staff—has delivered a construction plan that is both ambitious and achievable. When complete, the KCA will include two theatres, a café and gallery, an expansive lobby and back-of-house space, and two levels of underground parking to accommodate 158 parking spaces.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS
As construction progresses and deep excavation begins to take shape, portions of surrounding roads will be used for construction staging and deliveries, resulting in lane closures, pedestrian detours, and traffic pattern adjustments in the downtown area. Motorists are encouraged to plan extra travel time and follow posted signage.

PARKING IMPACTS
On-street parking immediately adjacent to the north, east, and south sides of the project site will be either restricted or unavailable until construction is complete in 2029. Additional parking restrictions may be implemented in the area, in accordance with the project’s traffic management plan. To reduce pressure on downtown parking, satellite work areas and off-site crew parking will be utilized.

TRANSIT IMPACTS
Transit on 4th Avenue is currently being detoured to 6th Avenue. Riders are encouraged to visit BCTransit.com/Kamloopsfor the most up-to-date route and scheduling information.

PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS
Pedestrians will have sidewalk access in the area, but will be limited to the opposite side of the street only.
