Kamloops Bike Valet FAQs

• How does the Bike Valet work?

  It’s like a coat check, but for bikes! We assign you a claim pass and you give us your bike. When you bring back the claim pass, we return your bike. It’s simple, hassle-free, and secure.

• How much does the Bike Valet cost?

  It’s free to use–seriously–but don’t forget to let your friends, family, neighbours, and co-workers know how valuable this service is to you!

• Is the Bike Valet safe?

  Yes, the Bike Valet service is safe. However, all items are left at the owner’s risk. It is important to keep your claim pass secure, as we will return the bike to anyone with a valid claim pass. Our dedicated team and security measures are in place to ensure the safety of your bike while it is under our care.

• Can I leave my stuff with my bike?

  Definitely. Because we can’t inventory your accessories, we can’t be responsible for them, but anything securely attached to your bike will be safe.

• Can I check an e-bike?

  Absolutely! We accept bikes of all shapes and sizes - tandem bikes, cargo bikes, e-bikes, and even strollers. However you roll, you are welcome!

• Can I check a trailer/cargo bike, rollerblades, or push-scooter?

  We welcome everyone and we’ll park nearly anything human-powered. 

• Do I need a lock?

  We ask that you do not lock your bicycle. The site is secure and attended at all times. If you have your lock with you, you’re welcome to leave it with your bike if you don’t want to lug it around.

• What if I can’t get back in time to pick up my bike?

  Kamloops Bike Valet staff will attempt to contact you using the information provided at check-in. The City of Kamloops is not responsible for unclaimed bikes that are left overnight. Unclaimed bikes and items left overnight are at the owners’ risk. Check in with Bike Valet staff during hours of operation to arrange to pick up your bike.

• What if I lose my claim pass?

  If a claim pass is misplaced, you will need to present photo ID and confirm your contact details with bike valet staff. 
  
  Pro tip: take a picture of your claim pass, just in case.

• Will there be delays checking in and out?

  We try to be as efficient as possible and offer seasonal passes to help streamline the check in process for regular users. Situations where everyone is trying to arrive/leave at the same time may result in minor delays. 

• Who operates the Bike Valet service?

  The Kamloops Bike Valet service is funded and delivered by the City of Kamloops and co-presented with Tourism Kamloops, with community partners including the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association, Chamber of Commerce, and the Kamloops Cycling Coalition.
