Important Information on 2025 Property Taxes and Home Owner Grants for Kamloops Residents

Release Date

Kamloops, BC—The City of Kamloops has calculated the 2025 taxes for property owners following Council’s approval of the tax rates on April 15, 2025. Kamloops homeowners will start receiving their 2025 property tax notices this week. Those opting to receive e-bills should watch for their email notice to arrive soon. Property taxes and Home Owner Grant applications are due Wednesday, July 2, 2025. A 10% penalty for late payments and late grant applications will apply as of July 3.

Payment Options
Residents can pay taxes in person at City Hall from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and at the Tournament Capital Centre from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. They can also deposit a cheque at any of our dropbox locations, including the 24/7 dropbox located outside City Hall or any of the following boxes located inside and accessible during facility hours:

  • Tournament Capital Centre - 910 McGill Road
  • North Shore Community Policing Office - 915 7th Street
  • Westsyde Pool and Fitness Centre - 859 Bebek Road

Another option is to pay property taxes online. Payments can be made at Kamloops.ca/Payment with a Visa or Mastercard. Please note that a non-refundable 1.75% convenience fee will apply on credit card payments. Residents may also choose to pay their property taxes using online banking.

The City is once again adding evening service hours at City Hall, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on weekdays beginning June 23. Please note that City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, for the Canada Day holiday.

“City staff worked incredibly hard this year to get tax notices out early to avoid potential mail delays in May,” said Norman Thompson, the City’s Taxation Manager. “That said, we want to encourage all residents to create MyCity accounts and learn how to access their tax information online if notifications do not arrive by mail.”

Kamloops property owners can create a MyCity account by visiting Kamloops.ca/eBill. Property owners will need details from a previous tax notice or utility bill to set up property tax or utility billing information. City staff are ready to help residents who don’t have a copy of those documents on hand. Call 250-828-3437 or stop by City Hall for assistance.

Residents should also remember that they must apply for their Home Owner Grants through the Province. As of 2021, municipalities can no longer accept applications. Home Owner Grant applications are still due at the same time as property taxes, so the City strongly encourages residents to apply for their 2025 Home Owner Grants before July 2 to avoid a penalty. For more information and to apply, visit Gov.BC.ca/HomeOwnerGrant or call 1-888-355-2700.

Residents experiencing financial difficulties should note that Home Owner Grants can be applied for without making a tax payment, reducing the tax balance owing. Partial payments before the due date will also reduce the penalty incurred. Look into the BC Property Tax Deferment Program for additional support.

Residents can also sign up for the Tax Installment Plan Service, which allows taxpayers to make monthly payments towards their 2026 property taxes. With the Tax Installment Plan Service, payments are automatically withdrawn from residents’ bank accounts. Application forms and more information are available online at Kamloops.ca/TIPS.
