The City’s Development, Engineering, and Sustainability Department is pleased to announce it is launching a major project to make it easier for customers to apply online for building and other related development permits.
The EPermit Project aligns with the 2023–2026 Council Strategic Plan and will streamline services through an online interface to manage and process electronic building and other development permit applications.
“We’re pleased to be able to better support homeowners, builders, developers, tradespeople, and registered professionals applying for permits,” said Jason Dixon, the City’s Building and Engineering Development Manager.
“Customers will be able to apply for permits at their convenience, make payments online, receive real-time status updates, and receive notifications as the permit progresses towards approval, resulting in increased transparency, better communication, and faster processing times,” said Dixon.
Staff from the Building and Engineering Development Division and the Information Technology Division are building the system over the summer and aim to soft-launch it later in the fall. The fully electronic EPermit application intake system will come online in December 2025.
EPermit Project Information Session
Staff are hosting an upcoming information session for anyone wanting to learn more about what the online application system will look like. Drop by the session to view information boards with visual examples of what the new online system will look like, and chat with staff who will be on hand to walk you through the new customer journey and experience.
• Wednesday, June 25, 4:30 to 6:30 pm
• Sports Centre Lounge, McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre
Staff are also inviting customer feedback and are interested in hearing suggestions for improvements, particularly from builders and developers. A short survey and opportunity to sign up to user test the beta version are open until July 9 at LetsTalk.Kamloops.ca/EPermit.
