Kamloops, BC—The City of Kamloops has begun processing 2026 dog licence renewals. Dog owners who have signed up to receive e-bills should check their email inbox for their renewal notification in the coming days. Those receiving paper notices may experience delays due to the ongoing postal union labour action; however, the payment deadline remains unchanged.
Dog owners are reminded that annual dog licence fees are due on December 31, 2025, and online payment is available. Any unpaid fees for 2025 or previous years will be carried forward to the 2026 invoice. A $32.50 late payment penalty will automatically be applied to any account with outstanding fees after January 1, 2026.
Payment Options
Licence payments can be made online at Kamloops.ca/PayOnline using credit card, Visa/Mastercard Debit, or Interac Online. In-person payments are also accepted at:
- Community Services Office, 1303 Mission Flats Road
- North Shore Community Policing Office, 915 7th Street
- City Hall, 7 Victoria Street West
Please note that municipal offices will be closed on January 1, 2026, for in-person payments. Online payment options remain available throughout the holiday.
New Dog Registrations
Dog owners registering a dog for the first time can only register in person at the Community Services Office located at 1303 Mission Flats Road.
If a significant change in dog ownership occurs—such as rehoming or the death of a pet—owners must contact Community Services directly at communityservices@kamloops.ca or 250-828-3409 to have the animal removed from the database. This process is not available online.
Within city limits, all dogs six months or older must have a valid licence. Licensing a dog provides many benefits:
- Identification service to help reunite lost or stolen dogs with their owners
- Data that helps assess the need for dog-related facilities and programs
- Cost savings on fines and penalty fees for licensed dogs
- Supports animal control and other regulatory services
