As Canada’s Tournament Capital, Kamloops regularly hosts first-class events, which is due, in part, to our city’s fantastic facilities. This March, the Tournament Capital Centre will host several events resulting in impacts to the Fieldhouse track and courts over a 15-day period from March 6 to 23, 2025.
“The Fieldhouse is a versatile space, capable of hosting a wide range of events, from track and field competitions to basketball games, roller derby bouts to convocations,” said Andrew Smeaton, the City’s Business Operations and Events Supervisor. “It plays a vital role in fostering athlete growth, training, and performance, and serves as a community hub for large events. The high demand for this facility highlights the need for more spaces to support the growing interest and participation in sports and community activities.”
Key events taking place in March include the Thompson Valley RC Racers Mid-Winter Challenge, Kamloops Track and Field Club events, Kamloops Gymnastics Trampoline Centre Invitational, Gathering Our Voices, and the Interior Highland Dance Association Spring Highland Dance competition.
In addition to the Fieldhouse events, the Canada Games Aquatic Centre will host the Interior Artistic Fun Meet on March 8, presented by the Kamloops Sunrays Synchro Club, leading to schedule adjustments for the day. Regular pool users should expect higher traffic during Spring Break from March 17 to 28, as the facility will operate the AquaTrack inflatable obstacle course.
While some areas are impacted by these events, the Wellness Centre, and Athlete Performance Centre will remain open with standard operating hours. The outside track at Hillside Stadium will also be open, weather permitting, as long as there is no snow or ice on the surface.
Facility users are encouraged to carpool, take public transit, or utilize active transportation methods, when possible, as parking at the Tournament Capital Centre will be limited due to increased athlete and spectator attendance during this event period.
As an alternative to the Fieldhouse track, the Sandman Centre concourse, 300 Lorne Street, is open to the public for walking on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm during the event period.
Members holding the Tournament Capital Centre Fieldhouse memberships that only include the indoor track area will automatically receive an extension to their accounts for the duration of the closure. For more information regarding membership services, visit the Tournament Capital Centre front desk or contact 250-828-3655.
Stay updated on upcoming events and show your support for local and visiting participants. Many of the events are open to spectators. For more details about the Tournament Capital Centre, including a live Fieldhouse schedule and information on closures, visit Kamloops.ca/TCC.
