Property Taxes can be paid online or in person with Visa or MasterCard. A non-refundable service fee will apply.

Pay Online

Credit cards are also accepted by third-party payment service providers. Third-party payments providers charge a fee for their services and transactions typically take up to seven business days. The City of Kamloops does not endorse third party payment providers.

You can pay your property taxes at most financial institutions. Attend your bank in person with your original tax notice. Ensure you retain your receipt for proof of date paid. 

Note: Financial Institutions are unable to accept Home Owner Grant (HOG) applications.

Most financial institutions offer online banking services. Your bank account needs to be set up to conduct online transactions. Contact your bank for details.

How to Pay Using Online Banking

On your bank's website, log into your bank account and go to “PAY BILLS”. Select “ADD A PAYEE”. In the search bar, enter “Kamloops”. Click “search” to view the full list of available payees. The payee name for the City of Kamloops property taxes varies from bank to bank. Select the payee name that relates to the City of Kamloops property taxes. You will then be able to enter an account number.

• For online banking purposes, your payee account number is your 10-digit folio number—without the dashes—which is located in the top right hand side of your notice.
• Always verify that the account number set up for your City of Kamloops property tax payee matches the folio found on your current property tax notice before making a payment. If the account number for that payee does not match your folio, update the payee account number with the folio found on your property tax notice, as described above.
• Folio numbers are attached to the property, NOT the owner. Please ensure that you are not paying for a property you no longer own, and update your bank records accordingly.

Each box is located in the main reception area of its respective building and is visible from the reception desk. Boxes will be accessible to the public at any time these buildings are open to the public. The City Hall box is also accessible 24/7 from a slot outside the building.

All payments with proper paperwork submitted to a drop box by a payment deadline will be documented as being on time. Please submit payments by cheque as cash is NOT accepted through drop boxes.

The following methods of payment are accepted:

• Cheque—payable to the City of Kamloops
• Money order
• Bank draft
• Cash*

Money orders, bank drafts, and cheques should be made payable to the City of Kamloops. Post dated cheques are accepted.

*It is highly recommended that you do not place cash in the drop box or mail cash.

Important: Mail early to avoid a penalty! You are responsible for ensuring that the City receives your payment by the due date.

If you have arranged to have a mortgage company or financial institution pay your property taxes on your behalf, communicate with your mortgage company each year to confirm your grant amount (if eligible) and the correct amount of property taxes paid to avoid payment errors and penalties.

If you are currently enrolled in the TIPS plan, be sure to pay the balance owing as shown in the "amount due box" at the bottom of your tax notice every year.

Remember: There is no June withdrawal. A payment will need to be made on any balance owing before the due date. The plan will begin again July 15 for the next year’s taxes. Your new monthly amount is shown on your tax notice.
