In July 2015, Gina was the winner of the first Collingwood Live & Original Music Series – a competition which “celebrates finding musical creativity and innovation at the grass-roots level”. Gina went on to record her next release “Porcelain” shortly after the Collingwood win, with Canadian producer Andre Wahl (Luke Doucet, Hawksley Workman, Amy Sky, Shania Twain). Musicians on the project included Tom & Sly Juhas (Jadea Kelly), Rich Levesque (Blue Rodeo, Melissa McClelland) and Robbie Grunwald (Jill Barber, Coco Love Alcorn). This will be Gina's first full length release since “Our Way” and marks a significant departure from her country/ballad roots. The sound is rich, organic and compelling, inspired by her experiences around the world. Summer Art Camps @ Kamloops Art Gallery

Jul 04, 2016 - Aug 19, 2016

Inspired by our current exhibitions, KAG Art Camps engage children and youth in experimental and traditional art projects that encourage creation, expression and discovery. Registration required. Register online at kag.bc.ca or call 250-377-2400.

Generously sponsored by New Gold Inc.

Join us for a fun-filled, creative summer inspired by the exhibition Jerry Pethick: Shooting the Sun/Splitting the Pie. Led by our talented art instructors, campers will explore outer space and invent rocket ships; assemble found object sculptures and make their own plarn (yarn made from plastic bags); deconstruct art history and discover colour theory. Each day includes an interactive tour and activity in our exhibition spaces, developing the ability of young artists to articulate their ideas about what they’re looking at.

As with all of our studio programs, KAG art camps prioritize the creative process over the outcome. We encourage young artists to experiment, test new techniques and develop their skills through self-expression. One morning a week, campers will go on a field trip to the Kamloops Library (with whom we share a building) to participate in their Summer Reading Club and read stories that explore themes relevant to the exhibition.

At the end of the summer, we celebrate the accomplishments of the talented young artists who participated in our summer art camp with an exhibition on our BMO Open Gallery. We hope you will join us at the reception on Saturday, August 27 at 11:00 am.
