Neighbourhood Safety

We are committed to working together to build effective, balanced, and compassionate solutions to address many of the issues our neighbourhoods face. We work collaborateively with our community partners to provide a balanced response to community issues that includes prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and enforcement.

We encourage you to talk with your neighbours, join your community association, and engage with programs like Block Watch and Citizens on Patrol, among others.

Block Watch

By working together, neighbours can make their neighbourhoods safer places to live and play. Block Watch encourages neighbours to join together to reduce the likelihood of residential and property crime in their neighbourhoods. Crimes such as 'Break and Enters' can be prevented if criminals know that there are watchful neighbours. Be an active citizen and help to reduce crime in your neighbourhood, become a Block Watch Member. 

Citizens on Patrol

Citizens on Patrol (COP) volunteers work in pairs and act as additional eyes and ears for the police. They patrol their community and observe and report suspicious occurrences to Kamloops RCMP. COP members are also involved in the identification and recovery of stolen vehicles through information supplied by ICBC and the RCMP.

Speed Watch

This educational program is aimed at reducing incidences of speeding. Volunteers monitor speeds in high visibility and high volume areas to raise awareness about the actual speed drivers are traveling.

Auto Crime Prevention (Lock Out Auto Crime)

Volunteers perform crime prevention audits in targeted areas. The purpose of the audit is to educate vehicles owners about ways in which to reduce theft from and theft of vehicles. Visit ICBC for more information. 

Seniors Safety

Have a safety concern, or require some safety crime prevention tips, have a crime prevention coordinator attend to do a group presentation or a one on one conversation regarding various topics from safety in your home to safety on the street.

Home and Business Security Checks

Our CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) trained staff and volunteers offer home and business security recommendations to detour thefts and improve the safety of your premises. 

Crime Stoppers

Crime Stoppers is an independent charity working to fight crime. All tips are 100% anonymous.

Fraud Awareness

If you have a question regarding fraud, call a crime prevention coordinator for information. We also offer group presentations on general fraud, scams and identity theft awareness.
