Hydrant Flow Testing
Each spring, Kamloops Fire Rescue will be inspecting the City's fire hydrants, conducting flow tests to ensure they are operating properly and have adequate flow.
The program runs from 9:00 am-8:00 pm, seven days a week from mid-March to mid-May.
During flow testing, poor water pressure and/or high turbidity levels may result. This situation is temporary and may last up to four hours. If turbidity is detected, you are advised to run a cold water tap and avoid doing laundry until the turbidity clears up.
Please assist us by keeping shrubs and trees pruned back from fire hydrants.
Contractors & Private Hydrant Owners
Note: During the hydrant testing season, only the City of Kamloops Flow tube or Hose Monster may be used for testing in the City of Kamloops and Lands under protection agreement with the TIB, with the Hose Monster equipment being the only testing apparatus approved.
