In a few words: Born and raised in Kamloops, Emi has enjoyed serving as a Kinesiologist in Kamloops since 2016. Emiko holds a Bachelor of Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia and completed both programs offered over several years: Clinical Exercise Physiology and Health Promotion. She is experienced with identifying muscular imbalances and supplementing guided, active rehabilitation treatments with evidence-based pain management techniques and educational materials (i.e. workplace ergonomics and nutrition education). Emiko enjoys working with people of all ages, including the older adult population and those with dementia. She can provide personalized assessments, assist with strategic goal planning, and support you to achieve your health and wellness goals.

Area of Interest: Strength training and fall prevention for older adults (including those with dementia), guided exercise to support improvements in mood and mental health, supporting behaviour change to attain sleep and wake goals, pre-and post-operative hydrotherapy, headache frequency reduction, recovery following whiplash, SI joint, thoracic spine and low back pain, posture improvement, evidence-based pain and chronic disease management, workplace ergonomic and nutrition education. Emiko also commonly helps patients who have been diagnosed with a meniscus tear that isn’t bad enough to warrant surgery but requires strengthening and improvements in the knee’s range of motion for a safe return to work.

In a few words:
I am a Kinesiologist for the beautiful city of Kamloops and an energetic mom of two. I grew up in Langley, where I earned my bachelor’s degree at the University of the Fraser Valley. While I have always been active and involved in sports; I discovered my passion for health and human movement after my first physiology class.
I have experience in occupational rehab for motor vehicle and work-related injuries as well as in geriatric mobility. I am passionate about helping others create positive, lasting changes in their health and fitness to improve their overall mental and physical wellness. When I am not working you will find me cross country or downhill skiing, hiking with my dog, or enjoying a local park with my kids.

In a few words: I have been teaching group fitness and training for the past 17 years and have a true passion for helping participants reach their goals and build their confidence. I strongly believe that fitness should be fun and diverse. My goal is to provide interesting, innovative, and individualized fitness programs with a strong emphasis on mobility and durability. I have instructed and coached many types of fitness classes varying from cardio kickboxing, spin, TRX, Insanity, P90X, yoga, bootcamp, and circuit training. Although I enjoy instructing all forms of fitness, I particularly love teaching human movement, yoga, and personal training. My favourite part of training and coaching is the connections and friendships that I make with every one of my clients and participants. There is nothing more rewarding than watching them achieve your goals, overcome an obstacle, and accomplish something they never thought they could.
