Frequently Asked Questions
Can I complete a Personal Training program with a friend or partner?
Yes! We offer a semi-private session package with a personal trainer to help build your motivation while addressing your personal goals. This four session package includes an assessment, followed by three 60-minute sessions to gain confidence in your new exercise program.
Do I need to see a medical professional before seeing a trainer?
The health screening form (in the Health Screening Package) will help determine whether or not you need to see a medical professional before you see your trainer.
You will need to see your doctor for medical consent if you checked one or more conditions in the top box on the Health Screening form or if you checked two or more risk factors in the second box on the Health Screening form.
Now What?
- Please fill in the patient’s consent and authorization box at the bottom of the Medical Examination form
- Take the Medical Examination form to your Doctor or Nurse Practitioner for his/her signature and recommendations.
- Once the completed forms are returned to the front desk at the Tournament Capital Centre and you have registered for your appropriate program, one of our personal trainers or Kinesiologists will contact you to set up your session(s).
Please be aware that if your physician recommends the Train Smart with a Kinesiologist Program or ICBC Active Rehabilitation and you are not already registered in that program, we will refer you to that department to ensure your medical conditions are properly addressed.
You do not need to see your doctor for medical consent if you do not mark any conditions in the top box on the health screening form or less than two risk factors in the second box on the health screening form.
Return the completed package to the front desk at the Tournament Captial Centre, and once you are registered for your appropriate program, one of our personal trainers or Kinesiologists will contact you to set up your session(s).
If you have any concerns prior to initiating physical activity we do recommend you consult your health care provide before starting regardless of the result of your health screening forms.
How often do I need to see a trainer?
Depending on your goals and budget, we have a variety of packages to suit your needs. After you complete your Train Smart Package, your trainer can work with you directly to determine your needs and outline your options.
If you are confident in the gym, you may only need to check in after 6-8 weeks to update your program. If you are new to fitness, you may need someone to help build your confidence, and more frequent (weekly or twice weekly sessions) might be a better fit.
I've changed my mind and want to cancel. Can I get a refund?
Our personal training and kinesiology packages are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Please contact us directly so we can help you address your concern and work towards a solution.
Once I have completed my forms, when can I expect to hear from a trainer?
Depending on the availability of our trainers, you can expect to hear from a trainer with a few days of completing your forms and program registration!
What qualifications does my trainer have?
All of our Trainers are highly trained and required to complete ongoing education to keep their certifications current. Our personal trainers hold a BCRPA Registered Personal Trainer, or CFES (Canadian Fitness Education Services) certification.
Additionally, some of our trainers have certifications in speciality modules (e.g. Pre-Post Natal Fitness). Our kinesiologists hold bachelor's degree focusing on the movement and physiology of the human body; they hold a variety of specialties, from chronic disease to orthopedic rehabilitation, and are recognized by the BC Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK).
Refunds and Cancellations Policy
